Had another lovely walk today but I don’t figure you want to hear about that, AGAIN. Lol.
SO… I thought today I’d share what I’m reading. I’ve been wanting to read about Mary Magdalene for a while now. I read her gospel a while back and just wanted more. While visiting North Carolina while back I found a set of Mary Magdalene cards. They were lovely. I read them all and the accompanying book and then put them away for probably over a year.
I’d see them sitting there and think about them but then move on, not really touching them. Then Saturday, I felt the urge to use them. I randomly chose a card and it was about the First power, Darkness. It fit where I’ve been lately. It talked about how sometimes we need the darkness in order to really see.
Anyway, DH and I went shopping that day and I told him I wanted to stop in at the bookstore and see what they had. I was looking for something on Mary Magdalene. We looked in the Christian section… nothing. Moved to the religious section… nothing. Went to the spiritual section… well, they seemed to have gotten rid of it but there was a witchy section, so I looked there and there was one book and that’s what I’m reading.
“Mary Magdalene Revealed” by Meggan Watterson. There’s not really anything I would consider witchy, except that it’s about woman and her faith, written by a woman. I couldn’t wait to open it and start reading. In fact, I pulled it out as soon as we got in the car and started looking at it. It randomly fell open to a page and I gasped. The title of the page was “The First Power, Darkness.”
Without even knowing, I had bought a book by the same person who had put the cards together. It felt meant to be! And I dived right in. Honestly, I think it was divine timing for me because I am in a place in my heart and mind, spiritually and mentally for this message.
I feel like it’s speaking to and yet also from my heart. Reading it feels like coming home or finding home. So far, it’s everything I believe it means to be a follower of Jesus, of what TRUE Christianity is supposed to be.
It’s beautiful and meaningful, and definitely worth a read. I’m about half way through it and will probably read a few pages more here when I’m done writing this.
If you are someone who, like me, has been struggling with the state of Christianity, this just might be a book for you. I’m also a little late to the game, so you may have already read it. If so what did you think? I’d love to hear!
Until next time… ♥️
