Mark 14:27-72

The denial.  The betrayal.  We all like to think we would never!  And yet, I can’t help but wonder…

There is more than one way to deny and betray.

Every time we fail to show or offer love, it’s a denial and betrayal. 
Every time we fail to forgive,
Every time we fail to help,
Every time we fail to serve, to witness, to feed, to heal… it’s a denial and betrayal of Jesus and his ministry.

Every time we spread hate, or even listen to without speaking up, it’s a denial and betrayal. 

When we look the other way to injustices, cruelties, ugliness – even in jest – we are denying who we are in Christ, who we are as Christ followers, who we are as humans.   These are the moments when we let Jesus down. 

I imagine Jesus looking at what we are doing with this world and shaking his head and whispering… will they ever learn?

May we learn, may we act, may we love fully and unconditionally.
