In the kitchen…

It was a beautiful morning this morning.  The clouds were just gorgeous, showing off their pinks and purples and lots of orange!Such a wonder to witness during my quiet time this morning.

It’s been so fall like the last couple of weeks, I’ve just wanted to either snuggle in and watch movies, or cook!

So, yesterday, I made some delicious Ginger cookies.  They turned out so yummy – soft and chewy. (Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll share the recipe.)  I hadn’t made them in a couple of years and DH barely let me get them out of the oven before he was grabbing for them.  I think they are best after they’ve cooled a little but he loves them warm.

I so enjoyed making them, and I love watching DH enjoy them. I’ve tried to put a few aside to take to DD and her BF on Friday, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep DH out of them!  And that makes my heart happy.

Cooking for my loved ones is my love language. That’s what I tell family when they invite me to help in the kitchen.  They always say, “You don’t have to!”  And I always reply with, “Are you kidding?  This is my love language!”  And it is.

I sent some left over stew and cornbread to work with DH the other day for his lunch and he texted and said, “OMG – this Stew is sooo good!!  Thank you again for your love language!!” 😂   I laughed so hard and my heart sang with joy.

DH and I both love to cook.  Sometimes we fight over the kitchen and my kids have heard me, many times yell, “Quick stirring my pot!!  Who’s cooking, you or me?”  Lol I’m mostly playing and he does the same to me when he’s cooking.  He’s usually the grill guy or the meat browning guy, though he does have some dishes that are solely his to make… though I often lend my advice and guidance.  😉  To which he also replies, “Who’s cooking today??”

Thankfully, our new kitchen gives us more space and ways for us to be together without getting in each other’s way.  In other words, we have a comfortable place to sit at the island and that helps us stay out of one another’s way.

So… what are you cooking for dinner tonight?  I’m thinking chicken fried rice. I don’t have all my usual veggies for it but I’ll make due with onions, carrots and bell pepper.

Sorry for all the cooking posts, it’s just where I am lately.  The cooler temperatures always lead me to the kitchen.

So… until next time ♥️ …
