Letting Go of the “I”

I recently read this quote…

“In this world, whenever there is light, there are also shadows. As long as the concept of winners exist, there must also be losers. The selfish desire of wanting to maintain peace causes wars and hatred is born to protect love.” ― Masashi Kishimoto

It really got me thinking.  So often we get on our side of things, you know the side we think is right, and push so hard that before we know it we are showing more hate trying to be right and end up losing sight of peace, hope, and love.

This really got me.  I hadn’t thought to put it this way.  I’m sure we’ve all witnessed it… whichever side you are on just about any issue, when you become too passionate about it, you lose some of the main purpose behind it, some of the good.  It gets pushed aside in the “I’m Right! You’re Wrong!” fight and peace leaves the proverbial room.

This week, as we’ve talked about peace, about living peace and being peace, We’ve stressed the idea of others and also the idea of community.

You’ve been invited to think about how you can offer comfort and speak tenderly to others, and we talked about feeding and carrying God’s people.

In doing these we let go of the “I” and move towards “We”.  We work towards community and being apart of the peace we want to see.
