Finding truths in fiction

I’ve been reading again.  I listened to this a while back on audible and enjoyed it but I know I missed a lot so I’m reading it with my own eyes this time.  I’ve been reading it on and off again for a few months.  Haven’t been feeling much like reading up until now but I’ve been reading a lot over the last few days and I’m almost finished!

Anyway, there have been some great quotes that I just really want to share!  I think I’ll share them over a few days.  This first one, I thought would be good for a Sunday, as it’s a prayer, a blended prayer and I think it’s beautiful and it touched me the first time I heard it and it touched me again as I read it for myself.  I hope it touches you too.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,

Our Mother, whose body is the land.

Hallowed by thy name.

Blessed be thy flesh.

They Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.

As above, so it is below, As it is without, so also it is within.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Your bounty is also our own, we are in service to your needs.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For compassion lives in our hearts and kindness moves our hands.

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.

For we are eternal and connected and we grow in the spirit of love.

Amen.

So it is, so it has always been, and so shall it remain, world beyond time, world without end.”

~ Morghan and Winsome, “The Gathering” by Katherine Genet

Morghan is a druid priestess in the story and Winsome is a Vicar in the Church of England.  They are praying (a form of singing according to Morghan) over a person in need of deep spiritual healing so that he can rest and go to sleep.

Isn’t it just beautiful?  It speaks to me.  It’s a fiction book but I feel like it speaks so much truth, in so many ways, and truth we all need to hear.

This prayer in particular speaks to me of the need to hear one another, to meet each other where we are and to see and acknowledge our commonalities.  We are all more alike than we think.  I hope to come back soon and share more truths from the book.

Until next time… ♥️
