A message for my kids

I love JJ Heller. I feel like she speaks my heart. I used to listen to her on repeat so she often shows up in my “made for you” playlists on Spotify.

I was in the car for a while today and her song, “Hand to Hold” came on and yes, this song is a message for my kids who aren’t kids anymore.

Trees are made for climbing, days are made for sun
Puddles are for jumping, fields are made to run
Stars are made for counting, and for wishes coming true
Sleep is made for dreaming, and I have dreams for you

May you never lose the wonder in your soul
May you always have a blanket for the cold
May the living light inside you be the compass as you go
May you always know you have my hand to hold

Stones are made for skipping, stories made to tell
Life is made for living, I pray you live it well
Learning comes from trying, so don’t be afraid to lose
Songs are made for singing, I’ll sing this one for you

May you never lose the wonder in your soul
May you always have a blanket for the cold
May the living light inside you be the compass as you go
May you always know you have my hand to hold

May the good Lord bless and keep you, fill you with His peace
His face will shine upon you, even as you sleep
Every day, you’re changing, sometimes I wish it wasn’t true
Hearts are made for giving, I’ve given mine to you

May you never lose the wonder in your soul
May you always have a blanket for the cold
May the living light inside you be the compass as you go
May you always know you have my hand to hold
May you always know you have my hand to hold

That’s for my all my kids and grandkids, ALL of them, born from me or not, nieces and nephews too. If you were ever a kid in my life, this is for you.

May you never lose the wonder of your soul. Wonder, sometimes we let that go as we get older but don’t! Don’t stop wondering… about the stars, the moon, the sea, wonder at the insects and flowers, wonder at all!

You all have a beautiful light inside you, it’s there to guide you. One year for Christmas, you all gave a different compass, one was a necklace and the other a bracelet but both had compasses on them. You are my compass and I hope I’ll always be yours. Don’t ever forget that you ALWAYS have my hand to hold, always. I bet if you close your eyes right and imagine holding my hand you’ll feel my hand in yours, giving you a little squeeze!

Until next time… ♥️
