Morning reflections…

We had storms last night, with loud, boisterous thunder!  It sounded and FELT (yes, you could feel the thunder) as if someone was standing over our bed, right over our heads banging on a thunder sheet.  It’s left me a little tired this morning.

BUT… it also left us with a lovely cool morning.  I’ve wandered out to the deck again, cup of tea in hand, clutching my sweater, in my bare feet (which are freezing now!)  to listen once again to my friend the wind.

She is blowing a bit more heavily this morning and the constant playing of the wind chimes is beautiful and the sounds coming through the trees just sets me back to that beach in my mind, I spoke of yesterday.  The birds chirping in conversation this morning is lovely.  Are they checking on one another after the storm?

Lately, it feels like we are living in a perpetual storm of life. One where I feel like we are needing to check in with our family, friends, and neighbors constantly.  Whether it’s a true weather related storm or a metaphorical storm of life, I feel like we are all being effected.  So…

Friends, how are you?  How are you fairing? Are you remembering to take deep breaths?  Are you remembering to drink plenty of water and eat healthy foods?  Are you taking time for some gentle exercise?  Maybe a walk or some yoga?

Or… do you feel like you’re drowning?

I decided to take a few days off, away from the news, from social media.  I’ve been reading and crocheting and just spending time with family and friends.  It’s been lovely and I feel a lot less heavy, less weighed down.

I’ve worked a little out in the yard, weeding and planting and it’s helped me feel more grounded.  I’ve listened to music and danced and sang.

It’s all been good for my heart, both physically and spiritually.

I think listening to the birds and the wind and the trees has helped remind me that life continues even when it’s hard, even when it’s not going how I wish it would.  Life continues.

And just like I’ve said, since that first duty station in South Korea, when DH was a PFC and we had NO money to speak of, Life is what you make of it. Community is what you make of it.  Your home, your church, your neighborhood, your everything… it’s what you make of it.

So…my tea is getting cold as are my toes!  So I’m off to warm them up and go make my life grand.

Until next time… ♥️
