This is probably going to sound really weird to you and I am actually a bit hesitant to share it with you but… Here it goes.
Recently, I felt God telling me to read Nehemiah. Really. I could see me with my Bible and notebook in my lap studying the book of Nehemiah.
This all came about as I was reading a blog I had found. The author was sharing a powerful story of her starting a new ministry and she used Nehemiah to encourage her forward in it. She kept referring to him over and over. I was struck by this and I found myself writing on a piece of paper near me… “Read Nehemiah.”
Now, I’ll be honest, I don’t really know much about Nehemiah. I’ve not read it, other than maybe a verse or two here or there. I’ve just not just sat down and read the whole book before but I was intrigued by how it encouraged this woman.
The next day, I sat down for some quiet time and was using an app I had found and again, Nehemiah was the topic and again, I could clearly see me sitting with my Bible open to Nehemiah and I was writing in a notebook. I told my husband, I think I’m supposed to read the book of Nehemiah, I don’t know why but I just really feel like God wants me to read it.
The next morning, as I was getting out of bed, I again could clearly see me reading the book of Nehemiah in my mind, so I pulled out my Wesley Study Bible and a spiral notebook and sat down to read and write.
It’s been slow going as I left for DD’s that very morning but I am committed to reading the book of Nehemiah. There is a reason it keeps coming up and I don’t want to miss it so…
Would you like to join me in reading Nehemiah? I’m going to try to post each day twice each week, Tuesday and Thursday, about my reading and I’d love to invite you to join me and share your thoughts with me! I’m going to start here on the blog, Monday morning, April 1st. (I just realized I will once again be on my way to my daughter’s but maybe God is trying to tell me something in that as well.) My plan… (you know what they say about best-laid plans…) is to read one chapter a day and just write what jumps out at me in the notebook and then share some of that here twice a week. Won’t you join me?
