I’ve been listening to a really cute book series. It’s simple, it’s fun, it’s funny, it’s sad, but it’s mostly fun. I’m really enjoying it. I can’t seem to stop thinking about it when I’m not listening.
It’s called “The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion” by Beth Brower. They are absolutely lovely! My friend who turned me on to them calls them “ridiculous” but magical, but not. LOL.
It’s the journal of a young woman living in the London neighborhood of St. Crispian. The antics she gets caught up in, the friends she collects, her gracious way of handling her struggles are beautifully shared. I wish I could be Miss Lion and live fully the way she does! Though, I do like my modern conveniences, there’s just something soothing about her story.
I sat here this morning, while enjoying my tea, and gave DH a very abbreviated synopsis of books 1-5. He loved it, I’m sure. He also, loves that every night when we crawl into bed to read before we fall blissfully asleep, I sit there with my headphones on, laughing and giggling, while he is trying to read his own book. If you ask him, I’m sure he will deny enjoying it but I catch him grinning every now and again. He definitely enjoys my happiness – though I’m sure it’s quite distracting and he wishes I could hold it in a little better.
If you are looking for a fun, silly, simple read, this is it! You can find them from you library on Hoopla and Libby, if you have a library card. Or if you so wish, you could support my little bookshop, and purchase a paperback from my little online bookstore here, and I will receive a small commission.
What are you reading?
