It’s Easter!

Happy Easter!  Seems a little surreal this year to me.  I can’t really explain it, but thankfully, as I opened the door to let the dog out, I thought, “Wow, it sounds like Easter!”

The birds were chirping, the squirrels were screeching, there was a slight breeze that felt cool. It’s a beautiful morning, that just felt like Easter.

Spring is here, new life is growing up all around me.  The trees and bushes are budding, the daffodils are blooming, my irises are rising from the ground.  DH saw a baby bunny the other morning on the porch. New life abounds.

I usually post my favorite song on Easter, “Every Morning Is Easter Morning” but this year, it just doesn’t feel right.  I don’t know why.

Maybe it’s because of the turmoil in our country, maybe it’s because of the injustices, shootings, the hatefulness… I’m not seeing much Easter in humanity lately, nature – yes, humanity – no.  And it makes me sad.

I find myself withdrawing, trying to hide away from the ugliness, trying not to be apart of it and yet, sometimes getting drawn into it.

Easter is about love, sharing it, showing it, living it.  Easter is about service to one another, no matter who we are … Republican, Democrat, all races, all sexualities, all religions, all means all.  Easter is for everyone, new life is an opportunity we are offered every morning when we awake.  We have the choice to be Easter People – people of love and service to ALL – every single morning. It’s a choice we can make over and over again, but it is a choice we have to make.

No one is forcing it on us, it is a choice.  Love is a choice and so is Hate.  Service is a choice and so is Greed.

So, on this Easter, what will your choice be?  And how often will you choose it?  This is a question for myself as much as it is for any reader here.

This morning, I choose to be apart of the Easter people, I choose love, compassion, service and community.

Happy Easter, my friends!

Until next time… ♥️

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 13:34-35
