I had a BIG birthday last month. Yep, I am now 50 years young. You may be thinking… “ahh… that’s why she’s been struggling!” Nope. That’s not it. It’s a million other things that I don’t feel like I am able to share on this platform.
Turning 50 has actually been great. In fact, it’s inspired me! I decided about a week and a half before the big day that I wanted to give myself a gift. I decided to give myself the gift of health.
Yep! It’s time to take my health seriously. I started a new exercise program and I’m doing great! I had a minor set back but it only took me out of it for a few days and now I’m back. I’m actually really enjoying it! I don’t have to work too hard to make myself do it! Who am I??
I’m also working on my diet. Trying to incorporate more veggies, lean meats, whole grains… this one is still a struggle. Part of that struggle stems from other struggles but I am working on it. Look at this delicious dinner I prepared last night!
And breakfast this morning was amazing!!
I always thought breakfasts like this one looked funny. Who eats veggies for breakfast?? I DO!!! It was wonderful and I felt so satisfied without feeling over full.
Yesterday’s breakfast was good too though much smaller.
But it was just what I needed and very filling too. Of course, then I had lunch with a neighbor and we had Dairy Queen… not so healthy but I didn’t have ice cream! Baby steps, baby steps.
Part of being healthier is also clearing the clutter. This one is super hard for me. Everything has sentimental value to me. I actually started this months ago but today, I started tidying up the kitchen and somehow ended up cleaning out a closet!! I’m on a break right now but look at this!
It makes me so happy! For real. I can’t express how happy it makes me. The closet I’m cleaning out is where all the gift bags, tissue paper, and boxes go. It’s where everyone puts the things they don’t know where to put them… (really weird sentence but I hope you know what I mean) It’s the closet that you crack the door open to add something and hope you get shut again before everything falls out! Ok, it might not have been quite that bad but it was close.
Yesterday, I decided to get back to doing things I love, things for me that I don’t often let myself get to anymore. I picked up my drawing pad and pencils. I’m not really very good but it was fun!
I’ve been crocheting my little heart out too.
So, here’s to turning 50! It’s going to be a great year!
Just a few photos of my birthday celebrations! Great way to start my 50th year!
