This has become a difficult thing for me. My lens has changed and what I read is … confusing… frustrating…
Today, I’m reading John 12:36b-43 and it’s titled, in my Bible, “The Unbelief of the People.”
So, if you remember from yesterday, a voice from heaven came down, and some thought it thunder and others an angel. Jesus told the people that the voice was for their sake.
This morning, we read that the people didn’t believe so that “the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled” and then we are given some of the ‘word’.
Then John says, “Therefore they could not believe, for again Isaiah said, “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn and I would heal them.”
So, God has hardened the heart of the people so that they would not believe. He doesn’t want them to?
Then, John says many did believe but they said nothing because they loved the glory that comes from man rather then what comes from God.
What???? He just said that GOD hardened their hearts and blinded their eyes, so is this about them loving man more than God? Or about it being what God wanted?
When I finished reading this, I sighed a big heavy sigh and said, “Oh… the Bible…”
I can see why so many turn away from it. It’s contradictory and those who wrote it very obviously were biased and put their spin things. The same way I do here on my blog from time to time.
So today, no spin. No Sherri. Just what I read, and my confusion. Do with it what you will…
Until next time… ♥️
