I love Autumn

Friends! It’s been a while… 2020 has been a rough year… for everyone.

I’ve been out of town for the last 3 and half weeks helping extended family and just got back Friday evening to my little family. Yesterday, DH and I decided to get out and just be together.

We grabbed lunch and ate in the parking lot of the restaurant and then we took sweet Sidney for a walk exploring post. Eleven years ago we lived on post and LOVED being able to walk out the front door and just walk in such beautiful surroundings. Then we moved off post to a house that better fit our family and most of our walks are around our little neighborhood and though it is pretty here too, nothing beats the beauty of Fort Leavenworth, KS.

We bundled up, it was COLD and headed out to look at all the beautiful fall colors. We were NOT disappointed. What beautiful scenery surrounded us, every step of the way and Sidney had a blast! The old historic homes added to the beauty and the river in the distance behind them was breathtaking. Here’s a little slide show for you.

Oh, I hope you enjoyed that as much we did! After walking near the river with the wind blowing off the water in 40 degree temps we were freezing. (We may not have bundled up as much as I said we did…) So we stopped off at the drive thru coffee shop for some Hot Chocolate! It was a perfect afternoon. We visited, we reminisced, we laughed, we got reacquainted.

If you are feeling disconnected, lost, frustrated… whatever…. I really encourage you to get out and enjoy God’s creation. Whether alone, or with your pet, or a special someone… God’s creation is a balm to an aching soul. Grab a jacket, or coat and scarf, we should have grabbed some gloves too!! and get out in nature. You’ll be glad you did.
